Pilgrimage of Agony 2025

The Pilgrimage of Our Lady of Agonia, recognized as the largest pilgrimage in Portugal, already has dates set for 2025. According to VianaFestas, the event's organizer, the festivities will take place from August 12 to 20, 2025.

In 2024, the pilgrimage took place between August 14th and 22nd, attracting more than a million visitors during the nine days of celebration.

This increase in the duration of festivities has been a trend in recent years, reflecting the growing public attendance and the cultural importance of the event.

The Romaria d'Agonia is known for its processions, parades of mordomas dressed in traditional Viana costumes, folk music concerts, and the iconic flower carpets that adorn the city's streets. The 2025 edition promises to maintain these traditions, providing visitors with an authentic experience of Viana do Castelo's culture and devotion.

For those interested in participating in or visiting the 2025 pilgrimage, it's advisable to plan ahead, considering the high demand for accommodations and the event's growing popularity.
